I have created 3 separate stories for my news stories, first story was about a eccles college student who went to Thailand on his own for 2 weeks, this story is a serious and sensational story because the story is about a 18 year old who went to Thailand by himself but he got beaten up by lady-boy's. My second story is about the 3G football pitch that has been constructed in Eccles College, this story is informative and also promotional because this story informs the students that attend the college about the cause and why they have constructed this football pitch and also it promotes the students to use this facility more often as this pitch is more advanced than the old astro-turf. My last story is about the Nek-Nomination, a craze that has been going around Facebook of people filming themselves drinking a pint mixed with their ingredient of choice and necking it down all in one. I then got a students point of view of this craze. This story is a informative and a public interest story because people would want to hear a students point of view of the situation and the people getting involved in this craze are student and is in our age range.
My target audience for my news story are college students, I believe i have created all three stories suitable for my target audience because; for my first story based on Reuben going to Thailand is going to draw my target audience in to the story as it is someone who is similar to their age going to a completely different country by himself and he informs the students about his experience and what went on during his trip i also asked open question to make my interviewee answer his question further in depth. But while i recorded my first interview, but the microphone did not pick up the sound so i had to re-record to interview but this allowed me to correct some mistakes i did during the first cut. For my second story i believe i have met my target audience as it is based on the construction of a football pitch in a college and what benefits the students who enjoy using the astro turf and maybe even gain more students to use the facility, i interviewed the head of sports department Neil Hayden which allowed me to get correct facts as he is part of the renovation of the pitch. I asked him correct, concise and clear questions but when i listened to my recording, i realised the microphone wasn't close enough when the interviewee answered his questions which resulted in a recording that was a little too quiet but i used Reaper to make the recording louder by changing the volume. For my last story i believe i have met my target audience as it is based on a craze that has been going around on a social network site which is very popular to students and informs them on a student's point of view of the craze. I recorded the interview in a class room which resulting in background chattering but i thought it would give it more of a feel that i went to a college into a classroom to record a student.
The strengths i had whilst recording these three interviews are; that i recorded a lot of raw footage asking enough questions so i didn't run out of recordings and i could pick which questions were answered in the best way. For all three stories, i carefully selected the interviews that i wanted to use to best suit my target audience needs and i think i have met that criteria. I also stayed on topic for all three questions which were direct to the news i was interviewing about and asked the questions confidently.
The weaknesses that i think i had whilst recording for these interviews were that i didn't properly assess the equipment that i was using which resulted in recordings without audio or the recording was too quiet. In the final edit of the interview for the 3G football pitch, i realised that the interviewee was saying "erm" quite a lot but i couldn't cut them out as the final product when i did sounded amateur and unprofessional, but for next time whilst editing, i will learn more about the editing software i use to allow professional standard interviews.
For the conclusion of my three interviews, i think i have done well as i have made sure they suited for my target audience and as they all related to college and students. I got some of my class mates to listen to my recording and they said all three interviews were good and interesting but for my 3G football pitch interview, i may have left the recording on too long and "it dragged on abit". For when i have to do a project like this again, i will improved based on the feedback i got from my class mates and assess my weaknesses so for in the future, i will create interview in higher quality.
